SICK BAY FOR AKAROA SCHOOL
The Canterbury Education Board (ids notified the Akaroa School Committee that the committee’s application for a sick-bay at the primary school has been granted. It is reported that work will be started shortly, and the bay will be made by partitioning off part of the corridor, A hand rail will also be erected on the stone steps leading to the school. In reply to the committee’s application for a teachers’ room and headmaster’s office, the board advised that the application would be made fo the Education Department in Wellington, and the board’s architect would prepare plans for the building, which will have to be detached from the school The letter added that there was little prospect of this building being erected until after the war. » • It was reported that the milk supply for pupils ha.’ been resumed, but because of the reduction of the through bus service from Christchurch to three days a week, the supply at the school would be confined to two days a week only, unless the milk was kept overnight. ,■ - The headmaster (Mr W. Tindall) reported that he-had made arrangements for a school garden for growing vegetables in the vicarage grounds. It was decided to make application to, the Education Board for fencing materials.
