A SECOND FRONT
Sir, —Your correspondent Mr Hyde takes me to task for not answering his questions “Where?” “With what?” The place should be France, Holland, Belgium, or maybe Greece—whereever the High Command deems it best. If we can transport such vast quantities of material over the long distances your correspondent suggests then we can transport sufficient troops and equipment across the Channel for an invasion. Why not use barges, simply constructed and ideal for the purpose? These have been used with success by the enemy and Allies. With 2000 or 3000 aeroplanes for support an invasion would be quite successful.— Yours, etc., J.G.I. August 12, 1942.
