♦ , SOLDIER AMONG THOSE FOUND GUILTY (Received March J4, 7 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 13. Seven defendants in proceedings against a Nazi spy ring were sentenced to an aggregate of 117 years’ imprisonment. Kurt Ludwig, called by the prosecution the brains of the German espionage ring, was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment. Rene Froelich, a drafted soldier in the United States Army, stationed at Governor’s Island, was accused of noting the names of departing ships and transmitting them to German submarines. He was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment. Paul Borchardt, a former major in the German army, was also sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment. Mrs Pauline Mayer, aged 26, who was born in America, was accused of transmitting military information to the German agents. She was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment. Others received sentences ranging from 15 to 12 years’ imprisonment.
