The shortage of various commodities has meant that Rangiora grocers have had to impose a restriction on their purchase to conserve their supplies. Sugar has been rationed for some time but one shopkeeper said yesterday that the restriction may ease a little at the end of the jam-making season when housewives need not purchase more than their normal requirement. All imported lines were in short supply, but New Zealand manufacture may, to a certain extent, alleviate this position. it was stated. The short supply of many lines was accounted for mainly by the fact that the Army had first preference over all existing stocks in Ibe Dominion. *
