NEW HIGHWAY TO CHINA
SUPPLEMENTARY TO BURMA ROAD (Received November 23, 9 p.m.) CHUNKING, November 22. Work will begin soon on a highway from India to China to supplement the Burma Road. It will start at Sadiya, in Assam. The Chinese estimate that LendLease traffic to China along the Burma Road before the end of the year will reach 13,000 tons monthly. More than 13,000 tons of material from the United States has already accumulated in Rangoon. More than 8000 trucks are operating on the Burma Road, in spite of bombed bridges, dangerous curves, and hills.
