NEW U.S. FIGHTERS
DETROIT, June 11. The United States is credited with having in production three fightertype aeroplanes capable of 400 miles an hour of more by Glenn D. Angle, of Detroit, in the 1941 issue of “Aerosphere,” international aviation yearbook, published to-day. Angle lists the top speed ' of the German Messerschmitt 110 twin-engine fighter at 365 miles an hour. He reported “under development” in Germany a HeinkeJ twin-engine fighter aeroplane* with a .proposed maximum speed of 428 miles an hour. Pitted against it will be the British Hawker Tornado, listed at 425. The American four-engine Boeing heavy bomber is described by. Angle as having a “service ceiling” of 36,700 feet, a speed of 325 miles an hour, and a maximum range of 3500 miles. 1
