OUT PATIENTS AT HOSPITAL

SOLDIERS’ COMPLAINTS AT

DELAYS

Complaints among soldiers of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force at delays in getting, treatment at the out-patients' department at the, Christchurch -Public Hospital were reported to the executive of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association last evening. It was decided to send a deputation to-discuss the position with the 1 Assistant-Director of Medical Services (Sir Hugh Acland). The secretary (Mr E. F. Willcox) said that although he had nothing in writing, he had received many complaints from soldiers. They asked if it was not possible for a senior officer and not a junior surgeon to be in charge, and also that a place be set apart in the out-patients’ department for them. It might be worth while to press for a separate out-patients’ department for these cases. Dr. F. L. Scott said that the-problem was likely to become worse. The hospital authorites recognised this and had the matter In mind. It was going to be a real difficulty.
