AVONSIDE GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL
DOMESTIC SCIENCE CLASSROOMS
The addition of domestic science classrooms at the Avbnside Girls’ High School, and the adaptation of.the present “annexe” for a gymnasium, will be proposed to the Education Department by the Canterbury College Council. The council decided yesterday, on the recommendation of its high schools and hostels committee, to ask the department to plan these additions as soon as possible. Domestic science subjects are at present taught in the-annexe, consisting of two moveable rooms which have been regarded as temporary since the school wcs opened. Reports to be submitted to the department say that these rooms are too hot in summer and draughty and cold in winer. They are poorly equipped, and it would be difficult or very expensive to improve them. _____
