SPECIAL PRIZES AWARDED At a meeting of the committee of the Geraldine Collie Dog Club thanks were expressed to the women’s committee which had realised the sum of £8 7s 9d towards the club’s funds from proceeds from refreshments. Special prizes were announced as follows: — Messrs Blair Bros.’ challenge cup for farmers’ driving competition, G. H. Burrows: Mr F. R. Flatman’s challenge cup for runner-up, S. Ashby; club challenge cup for two nominated huntaways, local competitors, and Mr J. Acland’s miniature cup, J. C. Evans; Mr T. . Burnett’s challenge cup for best mustering team of two huntaways and one heading dog, J. C. Evans; runholders* challenge cup given by Sir Hugh Aoland and Mr J. M. Polhill for runholder scoring most points with one dog in any one event, and Mr T. T. Ritchie’s miniature. D. Scully; Pyne, Gould, Guinness trophy for local competitor with most entries, J. C. Evans; Loan and Mercantile Company’s special prize for competitor scoring most points in open huntaway and long pull, J. C. Evans; Mr R, Morrison’s trophy for dog scoring, most points in local long pull and local maiden and open short pull and yard, J. C. Evans: Mr E. H. Logan’s trophy for dog (novice) securing most points in classes 2 and 3. J. C., Evans; National Mortgage and Agency Company’s trophy for competitor scoring most points with one dog in open driving competition, Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association's trophy for local competitor with most entries failing to win a prize, R. A. Pringle. Commissioner M. H. Boyd was reappointed the board’s representative on the. Canterbury Patriotic Association by the Southbridge Town Board at its monthly meeting. Application will be made to the Ellesmere County Council for the use of one of the power graders to scarify and grade North Rakaia road.
