KAIAPOI BOROUGH COUNCIL
APPRECIATION OF MAYOR’S SERVICES At the monthly meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Council the secretary of the Waimakariri Harbour Board wrote advising that the board was of the opinion that the installation of a fire sump at the rear of the board’s buildings in Cookson street should be further considered by the works committee of the council and the board. The request was agreed to. The financial statement showed receipts since last meeting as £1074 10s lOd, and a debit bank balance of £1720 13s sd. Accounts. passed for payment totalled £1269 16s Id. Before , the meeting adjourned appreciative references were made by all councillors of the long and valuable service rendered to the borough by the Mayor (the Rev. W. H. A. Vickery), who is retiring after holdingoffice for the last 12 years. General expressions of thanks were made to him for his kindly assistance and cooperation and good wishes were extended to him and Mrs Vickery for the best of health and happiness in their retirement.
