CITY DESTRUCTOR BUILDING

DEMOLITION BEGUN NEW DEPOT FOR ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT Work has begun on the demolition of the old destructor building in Armagh street in'preparation for the construction of the Municipal Electricity Department’s new distribution depot. The new building will cosh more than £IO,OOO and will be of reinforced concrete. Like the other buildings of the department it will be on the latest earthquake-resisting lines. The contract let by the council to B. Moore and Sons, calls for completion of the building in six months. The department has felt the need of a distribution depot for its material and plant for some time, and the site was “earmarked” for the purpose as long ago as 1933.
