ECONOMIES IN TRANSPORT
HAWKE’S BAY OPERATORS’ RESOLUTION
(paxsa iasooiiTiow tbuiobau.) HASTINGS, September -22. Two hundred transport operators from all parts of Hawke’s Bay met at Hastings last night to . learn the terms of the proposed Government control of the industry. The proposals were well received, and a resolution stated; “That this meeting of the combined motor transport operators, representative of the Hawke’s Bay district, places on record its appreciation of the confidence reposed in the industry by the Minister for Transport (the Hon. R. Semple) and appreciates the opportunity offered to the industry to effect, of its own accord, the degree of economy necessary in the existing national emergency.” It was emphasised that the Government had no wish to dictate to the industry but wished to act in the fullest possible consultation and co-oper-atlon -with. It in every section.
