PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE
SPECIAL POWERS FOR HOME SECRETARY IRISH REPUBLICAN SUSPECTS MAY BE ARRESTED RUGBY, July 19. The Prevention of Violence Bill gives the Home Secretary the same powers to deal with Irish Republican Army suspects as with undesirable aliens, including the right to refuse admittance, and powers ter deport people' who have lived in Britain for less than 20 years. He is also empowered to make suspects register and check the activities of those moving from one place to another. Suspects may be arrested without warrant. The bill applies to all members of the Empire, but it will be restricted to Irish Republican Army suspects.
