FOSTER CUP COMPETITION

WIN FOR DR. J. K. DAVIDSON

The annual golf match for the Foster Cup, open to members of the Canterbury Division of the British Medical Association, was played at Shirley yesterday in fine, cold weather, and was won, for the second time, by Dr. J. Keith Davidson, with a score of 1 up. This competition, which is played on handicap, is very popular amongst medical men, as is proved by the large number of entrants, many of whom each year travel long distances to play in the match. A putting competition for the wives of the players was won by Mrs L. H. Marshall, of Cheviot. The best scores in the cup competition were as follows: —J. K. Davidson, 1 up; W. G. Rich, 1 down; J. D. Marks, 2 down; H. E. W. Roberton, 3 down; M. Gray, 4 down; J. F. Duncan, 5 down; W. T. Glasgow, 6 down; P. S. Foster, 7 down; M. G. Louisson, 7 down. , , The president of the Canterbury Division of the British Medical Association, Dr. P. A. Ardagh, and rMs Ardagh, at whose invitation the players and their friends attended the “at home” in the club house at Shir, ley. are at present in Sydney, and acting for them, the guests were received by Dr. J. F. Lsndrctb, 3ctin§ president, and Mrs Landreth. Tea was served in the dining-room and the common-room. After the match Mrs Landreth, who wore a pervenche blue suit and cinnamon broWn blouse and hat, presented the cup to Dr. Davidson and the putting trophy to Mrs Marshall. Dr. Landreth congratulated the winners, expressed appreciation of Mr P. Stanley Foster’s kindness in presenting the cup for competition some years ago, and thanked the Christchurch Golf Club for the use of the links.
