MAN ASSAULTED AND ROBBED

DARING ATTACK IN CITY Assaulted almost in. the centre of. the city and not long after dark on Saturday a Christchurch man, Mr Harry Hardaker, aged 40, was beaten about the face and robbed. He was fortunate in having only a small sum in his possession at the time, about 2s, but this was taken by the assailants, who escaped. The assault took place about 6.30 p.m. in Victoria square, and was reported to the police a little later by the victim, whose face was covered in blood. Detectives S. W. Cunningham and D. G. Simpson carried out investigations throughout the night, and were successful in arresting two youths, aged 17 and 18 years, who will be charged with the assault.
