EAST ASHBURTON CLUB
Mr G. Bowman (chaiman) presided at the meeting of the committee of the East Ashburton Amateur Swimming Club on Monday evening. The president of the Hampstead Memorial Society (Mr H. Money) waited on the committee asking for assistance to install the underground drainage at the baths. The matter was held over until all the financial obligations of the club were met at the end of the season.
The president (Mr L. Crooks) wrote offering a cup for a club championship over distances of 50 yards, 100 yards, and a dive. Mr Bowman offered cups for n dual relay event of 50 yards.
ASHBURTON HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS
The annual swimming sports of the boys of the Ashburton High School wore held yesterday afternoon in ideal conditions. Hogg House won the house relay race, with Buchanan House second and Tennant House third. The time, 2min tSsec, was one second outside the record for the relay. Competition In the handicap events was particularly keen, and the championship events were well contested. Tlie senior championship was won by C. Osborne, with 20 points, and N. Reddecliffc was runner-up with 17 points. H. Kennedy won the junior championship With 17 points, and R. Valentine was second with 15.
