MILLIONS OF TOHEROAS DYING
LITTLE SURF ON NORTHERN BEACH IPB3SB ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM”.) DARGAVILLE, February 28. Due, it is thought, to abnormally low tides, easterly winds,, and heat, toheroas are dying in millions over an area extending along 40 miles of the West Coast beach. Recently there has been little surf, which usually sweeps the beach, and the water has been abnormally clear. The result is that the shellfish have suffered from lack of natural food, and have to lie in hot sand under pools of warm water.
