OTIRA GORGE ROAD
♦ GOOD PROGRESS MADE WITH REPAIR WORK Good progress has been made with «ie work of repairing the Otira Gorge r oad, blocked by slips as the result of a cloudburst in the Southern Alps on February 14, and it is anticipated that ♦ J road will be again open to motor traffic shortly. p According to Mr A. B. Bremner, public Works Department engineer in cnarge of the work, good progress has ° een made in removing the slips and, „ Y® n . fihe weather, the road should be wS£ len *ly rest - ore d by Friday of this "eck to allow cars to get through. A ana ° r a bulldozer were at work n .?. c , a rs could now get as far as the Veil falls. It is hoped to combv ? track around one of the slips y/riday evening, thus clearing the *oad for traffic.
