APPEAL BY NAVY LEAGUE

, ♦ SUM OF £l4O RAISED IN STREETS The funds of the Navy League will benefit by £l4O as the result of the street appeal held yesterday to raise funds for equipment for the Sea Cadet Corps, and to enable it to continue its educational work in navy matters. The amount was considered satisfactory. but a shortage of collectors restricted the extent of the collection. The league had only 70 collectors. ■'Vhereas two or three years ago it had the assistance of from 200 to 300. The services of collectors could not be ob,lned easily yesterday, and -the city could not be covered properly. The treasurer (Mr T. M. Charters) Sa, d last night that in spite of the difficulty in organising a full complement of collectors, the amount taken seemed to indicate that the public was quite in favour of the appeal.
