SPECIFICATIONS OF NEW LINER

QUEEN ELIZABETH TO BE BIGGER THAN SISTER SHIP

LONDON, February 3

“The Times” states that the new British liner Queen Elizabeth will be equipped with two funnels. She will have a length of 1030 ft compared with the Queen Mary’s 1020 ft. and she will be of 84,000 tons compared with the 81,235 tons of the Queen Mary. She will have 13 decks compared with 12 on her sister ship.

The new liner is insured while under construction for £4,500,000. It is intended that the new vessel will be commissioned early in the summer of 1940, when the Cunard Company will celebrate its centenary.
