PUPILS ENROLLED FOR YEAR
♦ SATISFACTORY NUMBER AT TECHNICAL COLLEGE grant from education DEPARTMENT Satisfaction with the number of enrolments at the Christchurch Technical College was expressed by the principal, Dr. D. E. Hansen, at a meeting of the College Board of Governors last evening. Mr T. W. West presided. To date 504 new pupils had enrolled at the Main School and 119 at the Papanui branch, reported Dr. Hansen. More enrolments were expected in the next few days. The number of new pupils would be at least equal to former years, he said, but he hoped for an increase. . . . , Accommodation at the girls hostel was being taxed, he added. The number wanting board was greater than ever, and there was a waiting list. Ten boys were on the waiting list at the other hostel. _ The Education Department wrote approving a grant of £72 for electric welding and £ 182 ■9s 6d for dressmaking equipment. • ~, Motions of sympathy with the reiatives of the Hon. D. Buddo and Mrs E. H. Andrews, who died recently, were carried.
