WEATHER FAVOURABLE FOR GROWTH MEETING OP DOMAINS BOARD During the last two months the weather had been ideal tor growth, several heavy showers helping to hold the lawns, said Mr J. A. McPherson, curator, in a report presented to a meeting of the Christchurch Domains Board yesterday. Mr H. Kitson presided. The trees and shrubs throughout the gardens and parks had made wonderful, clean growth, he continued. In the gardens the bedding display had been up to ■ standard, and the collection of herbaceous plants continued to bloom very well. The roses had done well, both during the first and second blooming., and showed an improvement on last season. Mildew, however. had been prevalent among the bushes this season. The whole of the garden was at present in an excellent state o£ maintenance. A vote oi appreciation was accorded the curator and staff for the work which they had done i preparing the display for the National Flower Show. Members expressed appreciation of the election of the chairman of the board as chairman of the Parks and Superintendents' Association. The chairman of the parks and gardens committee, Mr F, George, and the chairman of the finance committee. Mr M. E. Lyons, were authorised to accept tenders for the resealing of the main pathway in South Hagley .Park.
