GOLF A stroke match for players who have not earned a handicap was held by the Lyttelton Ladies' Golf Club at Charteris Bay on Sunday for Mrs R. J. Candy's trophy, the winner being Miss Ngaire Gebbie. Miss Joan Gebbie was the runner-up. Labour Party Meeting There was a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Lyttelton branch of the New Zealand Labour Party, held on Sunday evening. A talk on the problem of supplying milk to school children was given by Mr T. H. McCombs, M.P. Mr R. Cairns, branch organiser, gave an address on the advisability of the nationalisation of all white pine forests. A resolution was passed requesting the electoral authorities to retransfer the headquarters of the returning officer for Lyttelton to Lyttelton. During the evening Mr McCombs presented to the branch framed photographs of his parents, Mr J. McCombs and Mrs E. R. McCombs, both former members for Lyttelton. In returning thanks, the chairman, Mr J. Morgan, mentioned that it would be 25 years in March next since Mr J. McCombs was elected the first Labour member for Lyttelton. Tennis Club Meeting A very satisfactory position was disclosed in the report and balance-sheet presented at the annual meeting of the Trinity Tennis Club last evening. Mr G. Tredennick presided over a good attendance. The club finished with a credit of £23 for the year. The following officers were elected: — President, the Rev. J. Evans; vice-pre-sidents, Dr. C. H. Upham, Messrs F. E. Sutton, G. Tredennick, R. H. McIlroy, T. Bryant, and A. L. Graham; captain. Mr W. Pattison; vice-captain, Mr R. E. Muxlow; secretary-treasurer, Mr R. E. Muxlow; committee. Misses P. Carter. M. Carson, O. Sergison, J. Muxlow, Messrs B. Muxlow, C. Brown, P. JDale. E. Adams. The opening day was fixed for September 25.
