TRUNCHEONS ABOLISHED IN GERMANY
♦ “HATED SYMBOL OF NOVEMBER . REPUBLIC” BERLIN, September 10. Herr Hitler, declaring that it was now impossible to be at the people’s backs as if they were barbarians, proudly drew the attention of 3000 police appearing for the first time in Nuremberg, to the abolition of rubber truncheons, “the hated symbol of the November Republic.” The police ordinarily carry revolvers and bayonets, and on exceptional occassions, rifles.
