ANNUAL SPORTS

CANTERBURY PRIMARY SCHOOLS EVENTS AT LANCASTER PARK The annual sports of the Canterbury Primary Schools’ Sports Association were held in Lancaster Park yesterday afternoon. The weather was very warm, but some strong gusts of wind made conditions a little less favourable for the competitors than for the spectators in the (stands. A verv long programme—there were 83 events on the printed list, and marly of these had several heats —was conducted quickly and efficiently. , As usual, the boys and girls events were conducted simultaneously on different sides of the ground, but even then many heats began as soon as the races preceding them had ended. A. Cusack made a good showing in several of the boys' races, and J. Lamb gave a promising showing in the girls 100 yards championship. In the boys’ section, Shirley Intermediate School gained the most points and in the girls’, New Brighton headed the list. Results were:— BOYS’ EVENTS Graded Relay—Grades V. and under; Normal (P.
