SWIMMING

UNIVERSITY CLUB FIRST CARNIVAL OF YEAR Members of the Canterbury University College, Swimming Club held their first carnival for the year in the college baths last Saturday afternoon. " The coldness and relatively small buoyancy of the fresh water baths prevented good times being returned. ' An exhibition of trick swimming was given by J. S. McDonald (East Christchurch). Exhibitions of diving , were given by C. R, Rlordan and E. Clark (Elmwood) and P. Bridges (University). During the entertainment of guests at afternoon tea, Mr M. Hilgendorf, club captain, extended the thanks of the club to the visiting swimmers and to the officials, Messrs P. G. Baraford (judge) and C. Bryant (starter).

LINCOLN COLLEGE SPORTS

Three records were broken when the annual swimming sports of the Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, were held on Saturday, in perfect weather. The attendance of the public was large. The championship was -won by H. B. Hay, with 12 points. D. -Gordon, seven points, was second, and J. Richards, five points, third. Two of the three new records were established by H. B.
