ATTEMPT ON SPEED RECORD

CAPTAIN EYSTON'S OILDRIVEN CAR

(BRITISH OFFICIAL WIEELES9.)

(Received February 21, 8.31 p.m.) "' RUGBY, February 20.

Captain G. E. T. Eyston, the wellknown racing motorist, who holds several world's records, hopes to create a new record for ears with heavy oil engines in an attempt he is preparing to make on the Pendine Sands, Carmarthenshire, at the beginning of next week. The 12-cylinder engine of his car, the Flying Spray, is said to embody a number of new features, and its performance is expected to give valuable information on the development of aeroplane engines using non-inflammable oil.

Captain Eyston is attempting to beat the official record of 100 miles an hour, and the unofficial record held by the American driver. Cummings.
