Rhodesia, and South Africa, I each with its own director, staff, and i a network of observing stations. i Discussing the tropical zone, he said I there was a valuable future for weai ther forecasting, including the Pacific j Islands area. 1 Dr. Kidson also attended the Interi national Meteorological conference at Warsaw, and there he was impressed r by the cordial spirit in which the negotiations and discussions were car- <-' '■■ Wed' out. i Commenting on the need for inler- .; national cu-opcration in meteorology, 1 Dr. Kidson said the work of a meteorologist nowadays was concerned prini cipaJly with information over wide 5 areas. The rapid rise of aviation had 'necessitated information by meteoroloi gists of much more frequent and much ,'more detailed forecasts, and one of the ; principal functions of the Warsaw con- ! ference was the determination of the ! observations to be made, the definition I of the various phenomena, and the de- - I vising of suitable codes for formulatijing information and transmitting it.
