Christmas Day, Holy Communion 6.0 a.m., 7.0 a.m., 8.0 a.m., choral communion, 11.0 a.m. Methodist Church, to-morrow, 8.0 p.m., Sacred Cantata, "Nativity of Christ." Salvation Army Hall, to-morrow, services at 7.30 a.m., 7.0 p.m. Watering Gardens Prohibited Following on the restriction of the use of water for garden purposes to three evenings a week, the Lyttelton Borough Council has, owing to the prolonged dry weather, been compelled to prohibit altogether the use of water for gardens. Notice is given that any persons using water for gardens will be prosecuted. Rubbish Collection Rubbish collections which are usually made on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, will next week - and New Year week, be made on Mondays and Thursdays respectively. Methodist Choir The Lyttelton Methodist Choir, following the usual custom, will carol on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day. The proceeds will be in aid of the choir funds and of the Methodist Orphanage.
Train Service The steamer express train, Which on Sundays usually leaves Lyttelton at 7.20 a.m., will to-morrow morning leave at approximately 6.50 a.m. A special train to connect with the Wahine will leave Christchurch at 7.30 a.m. to-morrow. There will be a late train on Monday night, leaving Christchurch at 11.45 p.m., and Lyttelton at 12.10 a.m. Tuesday. Harbour Light Theatre "Orient Express," which will be screened at the Harbour Light Theatre to-day and on Monday night, is a tense and thrilling drama, interspersed with comedy. The cast is an outstanding one, and is headed by Heather Angel, Norman Foster, Dorothy Burgess, and Herbert Mundin. Selected newsreels, a travelogue, and a Tintype comedy will also be screened. On Christmas night, commencing at 8.15, "Red Ensign," a drama of the mercantile marine, will be screened. Holy Trinity Church The moonlight picnic, held by the Holy Trinity Girls' Bible Class at Corsair Bay on Tuesday, was well attended, and proved very enjoyable. Opportunity was taken by the members to make a presentation to their leader, Mrs E. Hanna, in token of their appreciation and affection. On Wednesday evening the schoolroom was filled with children and parents on the occasion of the Sunday School break-up. An enjoyable impromptu concert was held, and com-
munity singing was conducted by Mr S. Tredennick. In his remarks, the vicar referred to the splendid work done by the teachers, and announced that the prizes for attendance at church would be awarded at the 11.0 a.m. service on Christmas Day.
