CYCLING RECORD BROKEN
♦_ LUKEY LOWERS AUCKLANDWELLINGTON TIME After two days" hard riding in the heat, L. G. Lukey, the Christchurch cyclist, arrived in Wellington from Auckland at 6.24 on Thursday evening, breaking his own record by eight hours 24 minutes. Lukey set out from Auckland at five minutes past 6 on Wednesday morning, with the intention of completing the trip in 36 hours, or, failing that, beating the record of 44 hours 43 minutes he created in September. Conditions on the way were not very favourable, as intense heat was experienced.
