LABOUR PRESIDENT ON TOUR
♦ MEETINGS IN CANTERBURY Mr H. T. Armstrong, M.P.. the national president of the New Zealand Labour party, who has just completed a tour of southern and mid-Canterbury electorates, left last evening for the North Island. He will address meetings in North Island electorates during the next fortnight. Yesterday, Mr Armstrong said that his principal meetings during the southern tour were at Ashburton, Methven, Temuka, Geraldine, Pleasant Point, Albury, and Fairlie. They were all well attended, and for several of them farmers had travelled from long distances. He believed that his party had made an advance in the rural constituencies, and had many supporters among the farmers. While Mr Armstrong is in the north, other Christchurch Labour i .embers will attend to the business of his electorate.
