SAAR PROBLEMS
GERMAN MEMORANDUM SAID TO BE LIBELLOUS SAARBRUCKEN, November 15. The Saar Governing Commission, replying to the German memorandum, denies that Government officials provided anti-Hitler newspapers with information regarding the documents seized at the German Front offices. The commission has requested the Supreme Tribunal to prosecute the signatories of the memorandum, alleging that it libels Herr Heimburger, chief of Mr G. G. Knox's Cabinet, and Herr Ritzel, Government adviser. The commission also denies that German emigres in the Saar arc taught to use arms. QUESTIONS IN LORDS SCOTLAND YARD PROTECTION FOR MR KNOX (BEITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, November 15. Matters relating to the Saar plebiscite were raised in 'the House of Lords, but Lord Stanhope, UnderSecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, said that it would be improper for his Majesty's Government, which had no responsibility apart from membership of the League of Nations, to express, its views on any aspect of the question. The Committee of Three had been appointed to consider these questions by the League Council and would report at the council meeting next week. His Majesty's Government had not received that report. The Government had sent special service men from Scotland Yard to ensure Mr G. G. Knox's safety. They were now on duty. NEUTRALITY VIOLATED MAYOR SENT TO GAOL SAARBRUCKEN, November 15. The Saar Supreme Court sentenced Herr Ruppersberg, Mayor of Homberg, to 46 days' imprisonment with a fine of 2000 francs for violating the neutrality of the Saar.
