FIRE ON STEAMER
QUICK ACTION BY OFFICERS (Received November 16, 11.40 p.m.) COLOMBO, November 16. A shipping disaster was averted by prompt action by the officers of the Dutch steamer Baloeran, bound for Java. Two nights before the ship's arrival at Colombo a short circuit fire broke out in the firstclass saloon lounge at 11.30 p.m. The passengers were awake and alarmed, but there was no panic. The officers succeeded quickly in getting the outbreak under control.
