WOMEN'S HOCKEY
DRAW FOR CHAMPIONSHIP i TOURNAMENT j With an entry of 17 teams, 12 from the South Island and five from the North Island, the New Zealand women's championship hockey tournament, the first to be held in Christchurch since 1919, will commence at the Technical College playing fields at Ensor's road on Saturday. The teams have been divided into three sections, the draw for each day being as follows: SECTION A First day, September I—Otago v. Canterbury B, Wairarapa v. Central Otago, Marlborough v. Wellington. Second day, September 3 —Otago v. Wairarapa, Canterbury B v. Marlborough, Central Otago v. Wellington. Third day, September 4—Otago v. Central Otago, Canterbury B v. Wellington, Wairarapa v. Marlborough. Fourth day, September s—Otago v. Marlborough, Wairarapa v. Wellington, j Canterbury B v. Central Otago. Fifth day, September 6 —Otago v.' Wellington, Central Otago v. Marlborough, Canterbury B v. Wairarapa. SECTION B First day, September I—Ruahine v. West Coast, Akitio v. Canterbury A, Eastern B a bye. Second day, September 3 —Ruahine v. Akitio, West Coast v. Eastern B, Canterbury A a bye. : Third day, September 4—Ruahine v. Eastern B, West Coast v. Canter- ' bury A, Akitio, a bye. Fourth day, September s—Canterbury A v. Eastern B, West Coast v. Akitio, Ruahine a bye. Fifth day, September 6—Ruahine v. Canterbury A, Akitio v. Eastern B, West Coast a bye. ! SECTION C First day, September I—Southland v. North Otago, Ashburton v. South i Canterbury, Bush v. Eastern A. . Second day, September 3—South- • land v. Ashburton, North Otago v. Bush, South Canterbury v. Eastern A. Third day, September 4—Southland v. South Canterbury, North Otago v. Eastern A, Ashburton v. Bush. ; Fourth day, September s—Southland v. Bush, Ashburton v. Eastern A, North Otago v. South Canterbury. Fifth day, September o—Southland v. Eastern A, South Canterbury v. Bush, North Otago v. Ashburton. The semi-finals will be played on September 7. and the final at Lancaster Park on September 8. Alterations to Canterbury Teams Since Misses D. Foote and P. Martin are not available alterations have been made to both Canterbury teams. Miss W. Duncan (Aranui) is transi ferred to the A team in place of Miss ; Foote, and Mrs C. Cooper (Digby's) and Mrs G. Noonan (Aranui) fill the I vacancies in the B team,
