I Under the best conditions experi- j enccd on the tour, the Australian j hockey team registered its biggest win j to date, defeating Marlborough by 5 j goals to 0. Brilliant sunshine and a dry ground admirably suited (he visitors, who were able to reveal their true form, playing exhilarating hockey. The tourists owed their success to superior stick work and a better sense of positional play. Their passing was noteworthy for the economy of strokes. Skilful push shots were a feature of their play. Against such combination and strategy as the visittors employed Marlborough was unable to score. Nevertheless it maintained a determined resistance. In the first spell the tourists scored four goals. The ability of the home goalkeeper, Andrell, was proved, for although the goal was heavily bombarded there was only one further score. Stenning (two), Allen, Milncr, and Irvine were the scorers.
