LANCASTER PARK CLUB The twenty-ninth annual report of the Lancaster Park Cricket Club, which will be presented at the annual meeting on September 10, states that the last season has been very satisfactory, most of the teams finishing well up in their respective competitions. The club finished second in the aggregate for the Peterson Shield, thus indicating that, as a whole, it has steadily advanced in the standard of play. The membership stands at 83, a decrease of nine, compared with the previous year. Financially the club is in a sounder position than it has been for some years, for after the purchase of a good deal of new material, a credit balance was shown. Seven teams were entered in the Canterbury Cricket Association's competitions. The senior team began very promisingly, and held the lead with the ultimate winners for a greater part of the season. The second grade team won its competition. The improvement in attendance at practice was well maintained. The club was represented in the Canterbury eleven by I. B. Cromb, to whom the club offers congratulations. The club has been very fortunate in having a keen committee of women helpers, who gave valuable assistance throughout the season in providing afternoon teas. The prosnects for the coming season are exceptionally bright. The statement of receipts and expenditure shows a credit balance of £1 Is sd.
