GREYMOUTH POWER BOARD MEETS (srECIAL TO THE TSESS.) GREYMOUTH, August 16. Mr W. Clayton presided over the monthly meeting of the Grey Power Board. It was decided that the District Engineer, Public Works Department, should be asked to advise at an carly date the earnings of the men on the Orangipuku fiver erosion remedial works, and that he should bo advised that the board upheld the principle that a married man should be able to return to his home during the weekend. The chairman, the secretary, Mr A. J. McDowall, and the engineer, Mr Sinclair Trotter, were authorised to proceed to the Power Boards' conference. The delegates to the conference were authorised to exercise their initiative when voting on the proposed formation of a separate Power Boards' Association, as distinct from the Municipal Electric Supply Authorities - Association. Transport Licenses The No. 7 Licensing Authority, of which the members are Dr. S A. Gibbs ("chairman). Messrs J. W. Hannan and Errol Rcid. sat in Greymouth yesterday and to-day, when many applications for vehicle authorities, and for licenses, were dealt with. Rugby Football Mr T. Mcintosh presided over the weekly meeting of the West Coast Rugby Union. On the application of the Blaketown Club W. McNabb was reclassified from senior to junior, and a similar application from the United iClub for J. Weir was also granted. It was decided to rescind the 'motion withdrawing the Star team from the junior grade. I It was agreed to congratulate Marlborough on winning the Seddon Shield and to write a letter of appreciation to Mr H. O. .Tefcoate, of Christchurch who was referee in the match, it was decided that enquiries should ibe made regarding a senior representative match against Wellington at Weliliiigtoii. I League Football Mr A.. H. McKane presided over the usual weekly meeting of the management committee of the West Coast Rugby League. It was decided that an all-round charge of Is (id should be made for the representative match. Canterbury v. West Coast, for the Northern Union Cup, which i? to bo played at Victoria Park, Greymouth, on Saturday next. It was agreed to write to the Ivlarist Club expressing the opinion that it was unfair to spectators that teams should arrive ia*o for a game, and stating that any further oll'cncc ot thi;, nature would bo met with a tine. ,1. The death has occurred of Mr Richard John Rowe, a well known and much respected resident. He had lived at Rotokohu for more than 20 years. Mr Rowe, who was a native of Woolwich, England, and was 69 years of age, had been in failing health for some time. He is survived by a wife but no family. Ball There was a large attendance at the "Mad Hatters" ball held at Station Creek, including a number of visitors from Reefton. The music for the dancing was played by the Broadway Boys' orchestra, and extras were played by Mrs Currie and Mr McDonald. The competitions were won by Mrs Poulter, Mr R, Gibbs, and Mr
M. Turner. Mr Robert White was master of ceremonies. Rugby League The following team has been chosen to represent Inangaliua against Canterbury at the Rcefton racecourse on Sunday:— I T. McKenzie, J.
