LOAN CONVERSION

+ —_ CONSIDERATION BY CITY COUNCIL REPORT TO MEETING LAST NIGHT Conversion of Christchureh City Council loans is still being considered, and will be the subject of a report to the council soon, according to a statement made at the council meeting last night. The statement was made in reply to a question by Cr. T. Millikcn as to what progress had been made by the council in the conversion of its loans. Cr. J. K. Archer, chairman of the iinancc committee, slated that an important conference had been held recently ot members of the committee, the Mayor, and accountants of the council's staff. The accountants hart been asked definitely to review the situation and to give the committee an opinion as to the desirability or otherwise of conversion. As soon as that (■pinion was received the question would be decided by the committee, which would report to the council. He further explained that consolidation would be discussed also. Councillors would have an opportunity to consider the facts before open dicus&on took place.
