TEXTILE INDUSTRIES
EFFORTS TO REACH SOME AGREEMENT
■ r.p.rnsii or i i.at. wireless. RUGBY. March 17. The situation created by the deadlock between the representatives of the British and Japanese cotton and rayon industries was considered yesterday, when the Japanese Ambassador (Mr K. Matsudaira.) called on Mr Walter Runciman (President of the Board ot Trade). The former promised to communicate at once with his Government. No further steps are likely until he receives a reply, but in view of the time which has elapsed since the question was first raised, and the desire for definite action expressed by the British textile industry, the British Government is anxious that as little time as possible should be occupied by preliminary conversations.
