SPRING FLOWERS
SHOW AT CLARKVILLE The annual spring flower show, held in the Clarkville Hall, under the auspices of the Clarkville Methodist Church, proved a great success. In spite of tho advanced season, there was a fino display of blooms. Tho show waa opened by Mr G. H. Blackwell, of Kaiapoi. Tho joint eecrctaries were Misses I). Holland and H. Griffon. Tlie various stallholders were: Variety, Mrs A. J. liich and Mra G. E, Brown; produce, Mrs T. Holland, Mrs C. Pemvoll, and Mrs J. E. Holland; aweots, Mrs L. W. E. Uiiea and Mrs Mcllwrick; bran tub. Miss Holland and Atisa Hide; refreshments, Mrs Ck H. Hassall, Mrs A. Patorsou, and Mrs W. Robson. Special awards were as follows: Best bloom in show, Mia Boliington; best bloom in district class, Mr 3 Boliington; Kaiapol Wgoilon Manufacturing Company's prize, Miss B. Clothier (Kaiapoi); Mr R. \V. Hawke's prize for most entries in show, !"is A. J. Kick; Mr K. W. Hawke's prize lor moat points in show, Mrs G. H. Hassall ; Mrs Kobson's trophy for most points in classes D and E, Mrs G. 11. Hassall; Mrs G. 11. Hassall's prize for most points in class A,, Mrs J. Dunlop (Ouruhia); Mr Eagle's trophy for most points in class G, Miss J. Dunlop; Mrs L W. G. Giles's special for best dressed doll, Jean Smithj Kev. O. Burnet's special for boy with most points in class H, Stanley Robson; Mies D. Holland's special for girl with most points in class H, Daphne Holland. The winners of competitions wore: Rose bowl, Mrs J. Pearce, sen., 1; ball-throwing, Mr C. Holland; cushion, Mr G. H. Hassall: wood-sawing, Mrs T. Holland; wheal (mossing, Mrs G. E. Brown; jug covers, Miaa Holland; cake. Miss E. Martin.
