FLYING ROUND THE WORLD.

WILEY POST TRYING ! AGAIN. j , j A SOLO ATTEMPT. j "UHIIED rKP.SS ASSOCIATION'—BT ELICTRIO 'I'ELEGHAPH— COPYEIOHT.) (Received July 16, 8.37 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 15. Mr Wiley Post, the thirty-five year old Oklahoma airman, took off from Floyd Bennett airport, at 4.10 a.m. (Eastern standard time) to-day, to fly alone round the world. He plans to stop at Berlin, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, and Fairbanks. He is flying the white and purple Lockhead Vega monoplane Winnie Mae, in which he and Harold Gatty made the record for a round-the-world flight. He 'expected that his cruising speed of 170 miles an hour would be increased by at least 25 miles an hour by the strong west wind. His aeroplane has a top speed of 210 miles an hour. Mr Post has a robot pilot designed to keep the aeroplane on its course, and maintain altitude and lateral stability while he rests. He said, however, that he did not expect to sleep. He carries the most elaborate equipment ever placed aboard an aeroplane.

A message from St. Johns says that Mr Post passed Tor Bay, Newfoundland, at 1.10 p.m. (Eastern standard time) flying fast and high, and headed out over the Atlantic.
