annual commemorative SERVICE. On Sunday boy scouts and girl guides will attend the Fouuder's Day ° erv ice in the Christcliurch Cathedral.. During tho visit of the Chief Scout and Chief Guide to Christcliurchlast March n combined service ot scouts, cubs, rovers guides rangers, and brownies was held 111 the Christchurch Cathedral, wlien the dedicated flag from the Cenotaph in London, presented to New Zealand and brought out by the 1929 jamboree party, was handed to the Cathedral authorities for. safe custody by Lord Baden Powell, the Chief Scout. The parade was so successful that the Chief Commissioner asked the Very Rev. the Dean ol Christchurch if this could be made an annual service on the nearest Sunday to the joint birthdays of the Chief Scout and Chief Guide, and called the "Founder's Day service." On February 21 last year, the Canterbury bov scouts and girl guides attended the"first Founder's Day service. The seating capacity of the . Ghnstchurch Cathedral was overtaxed, and during the service the scouts and guides reaffirmed their scout and guide promise.
