(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, March 16. There was a slight reduction in the prices obtained for several classes of fat stock at Burnside to-day. The pig auction was better than that of the previous week. With the exception, of. two or three pens, the quality of the-yarding of 249 fat cattle was not of the best. There was a large yarding of cows and light heifers. The sale opened with prices equal to those realised at, the previous market, but towards the close values for light cattle receded about 20s per head. Top prices obtained wero: Best bullocks £l4 7e 6d, others £9 to £ll, heifers to £7, cows £4 10s to £6. Prime ox beef was worth about 28s per 1001b, "medium ox beef about 265, and heifer and cow 18s to 20s. About 2500 fat sheep were offered. The quality was much better than has been the case for some weeks past. The entry incli ded several pens of extra heavy wethers. The best prices obtained were: Wethers 20s, extra prime ewes 16s, medium-weight sheep (average) 8s 6d. These prices showed a dron on last week's high values of 3s 6d for ewes and 3s for wethers. Wethers were worth about 3Ad and ewes from lsd .to 2d per lb. The lamb entry consisted of about 900 Lead. The yarding was of very good quality. As freezing buyers were operating, a good sale resulted. In the stora cattle pens was a special line of cattle from Lamb Hill Station. This was the best consignment received for some time. Ten of the animals sold at £9 10s, 12 at" £8 12s 6d, 12 at £7 15s,' and 12 at' £6. The balance of the entry waß made up of tows and young steers, which sold from £1 10s to £5 per head. In the pig section 110 fats and 32 stores were forward. Competition was keener than usual, and there was a rise of 5s for porkers and Vs 6d for baconers. Top price for porkers was £3 9s and for baconers £2 10s. Baconers were worh about 5Jd per lb and porkers about per li>.
