WEDDINGS.

.MASON—HEN N AH. A wedding that aroused much kindly interest, not only in Christchurch and the West Coast, but also in Auckland and Wellington, was celebrated quietly at St. Mary's Church, Merivale, yesterday forenoon, when Blanche Eveline, only child of Mr and Mrs R. H. Htennah, Merivale, was married to Philip Deane, j-oungest son of the late MiEdward Mason and of Mrs Mason, Northcote, Auckland. The church was effectively decorated with palms and hydrangeas, the Ven. Archdeacon P. B. Haggitt performed the ceremony and Dr. T. Leslie Crooke acted as organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a graceful sleeveless frock and long-sleeved coatee of deep hydrangea blue ninon, patterned in primrose and gold in floral design. The frock was made with a straight bodice, narrow belt clasped with a buckle of brilliants, and long fully-flared skirt, trimmed with two picoted edged flounces at the hip-line, while the sleeves of the coatee were inset with a tiny ; ' picot-edged frills. Her becoming hat of hydrangea blue felt had a very wide brim and her bouquet of shaded yellow roses repeated the colours in her frock. There were no bridesmaids, but the bridegroom was attended by Mr R. B. Cotton, tho bride's cousin.

Mrs Ilcnnah wore a smart frock of heavy French silk made with a tucked hip-yoke, pleated skirt, and beige crepe de chine vestee, trimmed with crystal buttons. Her wide-brimmed navy Bangkok straw hat was trimmed with navy and beige ribbon and she carried a posy of vari-coloured roses. Mr and Mrs Mason, after travelling for some weeks in the North Island, will make their homo in Wellington.

SPEIGHT—N APIEP.. The wedding was celebrated at St. Augustine's Church, "Waimnte, yesterday afternoon, of Miss Dorothy Frances Napier, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. D. Napier, of "Te Kiteroa, Waimate, and Mr Allan Francis Speight, second son of Mrs Speight, and the late Mr Charles Speight, of lurk Place, l>uuedin. 'i'ho church liad been beautifully decorated with masses of pink flowers by the bridesmaids and friends. ' The bride was accompanied by her father, who gave her away. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. MsCross, of Waihao Downs, who was assisted by the Rev. Mr Morland. Mr Burry, of Oamaru, was organist. The bride wore a beautiful longsleeved gown of ivory satin, cut on simple lines, with a long bodice fitting closely to the hips, slightly gathered in the front, and finished with a row of pearls. The train, from the waist, was cut in one piece with the frock, and her voil of tulle was worn over the face, and fell in soft folds from a small lace cap, edged with orange buds. She carried a sheaf of amaryllis lilies. The matron-of-honour was Mrs INorraan Speight, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, and the bridesmaids wero Misses Catherine McLachlnn, Winifred Speight (sister of the bridegroom), Kathleen McLean, Molly Chapman, and Kitty Hazlett. Thev wore lovely frocks and coatees of chiffon, in a soft shade of pink, the tucked bodices being very long, while the full skirts were anklelength, and the girdles were of pink velvet. Wide-brimmed felt hats, in the same shade of pink, were worn, each trimmed with a large flat bow of velvet. The bridesmaids carried bunches of roses to match their frocks. The little flower girl, Josephine Smith, wore an Early Victorian frock of the same material, and carried a posy. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr John Hazlett, of Southland, and the groomsmen were Messrs I Colin Speight (brother of the bridegroom), James Napier (brother of trie bride), Douglas Story, Fraser kdmond, and Edward Stewart. The ushers were Mr Geoffrey Smith and Mr Charles Stewart. . , During the signing of the register, | Mrs Harold Large, aunt of the bride, sang "God is a Spirit." At the reception, which was held at "To Kiteroa," Mr and Mrs Napier ' received their guests in the garden, Mrs Napier wearing a handsome gown of black lace and georgette, and a wide brimmed black hat, trimmed with an ostrich feather. She carried a bouniiet of crimson roses. Mrs Speight, mother of the bridegroom, wore a graceful frock of golden brown lace, and a straw hat to match, finished with a, sweeping ostrich feather. She carried a bouquet of tea roses. The marquee had been beautiruuy decorated by Mrs Donald Borrie, the ceiling being entirely covered with masses of pink flowers. Later in the afternoon Mr and Mrs Allan Speight left for the wedding tour by motor-car. the bride wearing a smart'model frock of meridian blue, with small hat to match, and handsome stone marten furs, the gift of the bridegroom. WELTON-HOGG —KIRKLAND. The marring© was celebrated on Monday afternoon at St. Paul's Pro-Cathe-tiial, Wellington, of Marjorie Spiers Kirkland, daughter of Dr. Spiers Kirkland, Sydney, and Dr. Robert Welton-Hogg, Wellington. The Rev. Canon Percival James officiated. The church had been tastefully decorated tor the occasion with hydrangeas in varying shades of blue and pink. The T>ride, who was escorted by her father, wore a tailored frock of apple green gossamer tweed flecked with white. Her tiny hat of soft green felt had touches of white, and she wore a white fur. She carried a bouquet of cream and apricot flowers. Miss Joan Cotgrave (Sydney) was bridesmaid, wearing an ensemble of soft green patterned crepe de chine with a blouse of cream broderie Anglaise. Her widebrimmed hat of natural straw was tummed with velvet ribbon. Dr. James Maunsell was best man. After the ceremony an informal reception was held in the lounge of the Hotel St. George, where the guests were received by Dr. Spiers Kirkland, assisted by Mrs Claud Batten (Wellington).
