BOWKER BEQUEST.

SITE FOR STATUARY. In reference to the H. L. Bowker bequest, the Reserves Committee reported to the City Council last evening: The Committee hu given further consideration to the au(reaction that the proposed statuary should be erected on the portion of Victoria square now occupied by the band rotunda, and recommends that the authority of the Council be given accordingly. In this connexion the Committee ha* arranged to meet Mr H. L. Bowker, jun., and Dr. Charles Chilton on the site for the purpose of considering the most suitable position, and with a view to ascertaining what supply of water would be available should it be decided to erect a fountain. Tha report was adooted.
