A CREMATORIUM?
REPORT AT EARLY DATE. Some information about the cost of cremation was given to the City Council last evening by Mr A. R. Galbraith (City Engineer), in reply to a question by Cr. A. I. Fraer, who naked when the report on cremation would be preMr Galbraith said information had been obtained from New Zealand and Australian cities which had crematoria, and he had also been in communication with the Consul-General for Japan in Sydney, whom he had asked for particulars of the cost of cremation by electric furnace in Japan. Prom another source he had obtained information that the operation worked out at about fourteen yen, which was approximately 9s. He had received a letter from the Consul-General advising that he was obtaining information from Japan. Cr. D. G. Sullivan: Do you think we could do it for fourteen yen? Mr Galbraith: I'm afraid not.
