TUNNEL ROAD.
SETTING-UP OF COMMISSION
The Finance Committer reported to the City Council last evening: The Port and City League has intimated that it will be pleased to agree to the suggestion of the Council, and communicate with the other local bodies in the North Canterbury district with a view to securing their contributions towards the cost of a Commission, should one be set up. The League enquires whether the Council is disposed to contribute its quota of the cost conditional upon proportionate contributions being forthcoming from the other local bodies interested. The committee recommends th.at an affirmative answer be given, conditional upon the scope of the Commission being widened to cover all improved means of access to the sea, and also upon all local bodies in the harbour district contributing. The report was adopted.
