MASONIC GRAND LODGE.
COMMUNICATION CLOSES. (PRESS iSSOCIATIOK, TELEGEAII.) DUNEDIN, [November 2». Two questions mainly occupied the attention of' the Masonic Grand Lodge at the final sitting of communication this morning. The urgent need for structural alterations to the Kirkpatrick Masonic Institute, the orphanage for girls at Nelson, endowed under the will of the late, Mr, S.. Kirkpiitriek, 'called for- moiir etary' assistance from the Masonic bodies of the different constitutions interested in it. After discussion the Grand Lodge of New Zealand undertook the responsibility for half the cost of the alterations contemplated, the amount not to exceed £750.
Alternative propositions as to the means of raising additional moneys for the support of the- Widows' and Orphans' and Aged Masons' Fund were submitted by the chairman of- the Annuity' Board, After discussion both •were',set aside in- favour of an amendment urging the Lodges to contribute increased amounts to the Fund, the method of collection being left to the separate lodges. . After passing a vote of thanks to the Dunedin Brethren for their hospitality the Communication was closed.
