ASHBURTON. | MOTHERS' UNION. I There was a very large gathering at Ashburton j esterday of the members of the Rakaia, Tinwald, Hinds, and Ashburton branches of the Mothers' Union, when what is known as a "Quiet Day" was observed. The proceedings commenced with a Communion service in St. Stephen's Church, which was conducted by the Rev. A. J. Petric, assisted by the Rev. G. L. Harold, vicar of Tinwald. After the service the members of the Union assembled in tlie Parish Hall, where the meeting was presided over by Mrs. A. J. Pctrie. Miss Havclaar, of Cliristchurch, gave an address in the morning, and in the afternoon Mrs A. Merton,;. of Christchurcli, gave an address on the history of the Mothers' Union. Morning tea, luncheon, and afternoon tea were provided. Music Examination. practical examination in music was conducted in. Ashburton on Wednes•%y; fy !?Mr B. 33. A meeting of creditors of Robert Briton Wilson, garage proprietor, of Winchmore, was held before the Official Assigneo (Mr C. O. Pratt) yesterday morning.
