HIS GOLDEN WEDDING.
(BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RU<iBY, November 12. The Archbishop of Canterbury's resignation of the See of Canterbury takes effect to-day. * The Archbishop (Dr. R. T. Davidson),
who is 81 years old and has been Primate for 25 years, also celebrates his golden wedding to-day, and the double event is to be marked by the presentation to him and Mrs Davidson of a tribute to which thousands of people have subscribed. The presentation will be made privately this evening by the Prime Minister and the Archbishop of York, who succeeds Dr. Davidson in the Primacy. The new Archbishop (Dr. Cosmo Lang) will be enthroned in Canterbury Cathedral next month.
The national gift to Dr. Davidson at midnight amounted to £16,936. To-day, was marked by the heaviest mail in the history of Lambeth Palace, letters and; telegrams Showering upon the retiring prelate from all parts of the world.—Australian Press Association, United Service.
TITLE AS TEMPORAL PEER.
